Never underestimate small beginnings...
Twelve people and a vision
A church was born
Word of Life Family Church was born on October 18, 1998.

The beginnings
For the first ten months, the church met in the Country Suites in Burlington, and then moved to New Directions International in Graham.
The growth
In September 2000, the church leased 5,000 square feet of the Deloache Apparel warehouse on Longpine Road in Burlington.
The land
In September 2004, when attendance was 220 people, the church purchased the building and 8.5 acres on Longpine Road and began renovating the 20,000-square foot facility.
The stirring
As time passed and the church grew, Pastor Rich had a stirring within his heart. He had a renewed vision and purpose to connect people to God and help them find and follow Jesus Christ. It was then that he remembered a word of prophecy given about the church in its early years,
“Is it any wonder that I have placed you at the gate of the city…”
In October 2017, marking nineteen years, Word of Life Family Church became CityGate Church.
